Zachary Hann is a saxophonist and composer based in Brooklyn, NY. His style on the saxophone is distinguished by a warm, resonant sound and spontaneous melodic language. His compositions explore improvisational systems, digital signal processing, and extended just intonation. He also produces commercial music, including a significant body of work for designer David Yurman.

Hann has performed with the American Ballet Theatre Orchestra, Metropolis Ensemble, and the New York Philharmonic. In 2017, he gave the US premiere of saxophone concerto Ravishi Nur (“Transmission of Light”) by Farangis Nurullah-Khoja.

He has toured internationally with the Colburn Orchestra and the Neue Philharmonic, in addition to performances across the United States and Europe with his own groups.

In 2021, with funding from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, Hann produced Steeple City Sound, a three-day music festival in North Adams, Massachusetts that featured his music alongside groups led by violinist Todd Reynolds and cellist/composer Paul De Jong.

Hann studied clarinet at Juilliard. Privately he has studied with organist Sam Yahel and composer Jacob Adler.
